Music, television (but not Music Television), strategizing, and business happened this week. Expect some very exciting announcements and changes coming in the near future. Good times will be had by all.
The making of "On Our Side" was a seven-day process. We began working on the song just hours after releasing "Waiting For The Sun." There was no shortage of extreme late night recording sessions. Sleep, on the other hand, was a different story.

me: we got this pop shizz under control.
shore: but what about the waves?
me: sound waves?
shore: my waves.
me: no way.
shore: s'ok.
me: we straight?
shore: all day...
me: weight gains.
shore: lane change.
me: pickin' out the best strains.
shore: matter-o-fact.
me: impact.
shore: selling like a mix tape....
Then the tide went out, and nothing more could be said. In the past, we had been delighted by lengthy conversations with the Shore. All that remains of it now are repeating loops of unimaginative texted pleasantries.
OMG, r u @serious?
Never been more serious in my life.
"On Our Side"
by The Theory of Funkativity
Verse:
What are we
Fighting for
Are you still mad that
I figured you out
A call to arms
For those
Meeting in
Deserted parking lots
You hate to
See me fold
I will live to
Play another round
You say you're
Keeping score
But I don't think that
You and I should count
Chorus:
We don't have to move too fast
'Cause time is on our side
Everything we love will last
We'll make them see we're right
Verse:
This is how the
Anthem goes
Don't you turn it off
We want it loud
Receive our
Daily dose
Making sure to
Take the wrong amount
You hate to
See me fold
I will live
To play another round
Don't let them
Speak for us
Those who say that
We've already lost
In a couple months
This will be
Something to
Laugh about
Don't know if you saw
We caught our
Funny games
On camera
Pounding on
Our drum
So that we can make
Much bigger sounds
This is
Rock and roll
We can do
Anything that we want
Chorus:
We don't have to move too fast
'Cause time is on our side
Everything we love will last
We'll make them see we're right
I know that we understand
'Cause time is on our side
Go ahead and make your plans
We'll make them see we're right
Bridge:
This is how the
Anthem goes
Don't you turn it off
We want it loud
Don't let them
Speak for us
Those who said
That we already lost
Here's how the
Anthem goes
Don't you turn it off
We want it loud
Don't let them
Speak for us
Those who said
That we already lost
Chorus:
We don't have to move too fast
'Cause time is on our side
Everything we love will last
We'll make them see we're right
I know that we understand
'Cause time is on our side
Time is on our side

I began writing the song immediately after posting "Waiting For The Sun." It took two minutes to come up with ninety percent of the song. The remaining ten percent took four days. The song didn't turn out anything close to what I had originally envisioned. In fact, it wasn't even close to the version we initially recorded.
I wrote "On Our Side" as an acoustic ballad, but when recording time came around it became clear that such a style couldn't be adapted to our current musical goals. The song continued to evolve throughout the recording process. It's another oddly structured tune. Initially, the introduction and the verse are juxtaposed, but during the second verse the rhythmic theme from the intro reappears and the two parts become one.

This song required significantly more engineering time than any of the last couple. Parts were continually getting rewritten and re-recorded. Each deleted track left a glaring empty space in the mix, and each new track demanded an extensive reworking of the surrounding material.
